Our Teacher Profiles
Amy Pierce
Teacher
Amy, to her credit, has had 15 years experience within the dance industry: Ballet, Jazz, Latin and Pole Dancing.
At five, Amy's feet found a dance floor and there was no stopping this beautiful butterfly. Then at the age of 15 she attained very high merits with the Royal Academy of Dancing, Drama and Music. Her passion grew stronger and it wasn't long before Amy was selected as a solo artist to dance, act, and sing with various dance companies throughout Europe.
Amy's expertise in ballet allows her to perform the most graceful styles of pole dancing moves along with choreographed dance routines which have been designed for beginners and further advanced courses. As in her style of performing, so is her style in teaching. All students will be taught to dance with the same graceful approach.
Pole Fitness Australia strives for perfection, and Amy is second to none.
We proudly present Amy Pierce.
Karen Sanewski
Administration Manager
I joined PFA in January this year as the "Administration Manager" and I am very excited to be part of this very dynamic growing business.
After a marriage break up I came to Pole Fitness Australia to get fit and build my self esteem. I am also a mother of two young boys and being fit again has given me the energy to cope with them. Not only did I do that for myself but I witnessed what an amazing difference it made to so many ladies. My interest and passion grew for PFA.
I have a long history in administration. I have personally worked for the Sydney Morning Herald, the Courier Mail, and the A.M.A Queensland.
Tenai Seymour
Teacher
"Plugger", as she is affectionately known by all who frequent the studio, Tenai again was a student that shone through from the moment she entered the studio.
She is 22, with a passion for horses and a background in "national level rowing." Plugger will be found weekdays caring for the youth of Australia as a nanny, and driving her ute to the studio to teach the ladies of Brisbane how to manipulate the pole.
Tenai has written unique style and class to routines that are being taught in our studios today. We all love Plugger.
Wendy Schmidt
Teacher
Wendy first walked into the world of Pole Fitness Australia as a student in September 2006; she wanted to get in shape, have fun and meet new people, but was over the traditional sports on offer.
So armed with nothing more than a flyer offering a beginners class and a pair of heels, Wendy signed up at the City studio and her journey with Pole Fitness Australia began. Moving through class by class, Wendy's confidence as an individual grew - she was determined to learn everything she could and help others develop their skills. As a teacher, Wendy works with each student to achieve their individual goals, help set new targets and understand that anything is possible.
"I'm a firm believer that we should never say I can't do it when in actual fact, we just can't do it yet. Through Pole Fitness Australia I have developed more self-confidence, I have the pleasure of meeting many different and exciting people, and most importantly, I have achieved so much that I never thought I could."
Belle
Teacher
Belle has been pole dancing for 3 years, starting out as a student. She developed an insane passion for the pole because of the fitness benefits and the fun.
She has her Senior First Aid and Certificate III in Fitness.
She can be a bit crazy, but at the end of the day she loves watching the women leave the room feeling confident. By day she works in IT but you'll never get her off the pole!
Monique Meier
Teacher
Yummy Mummy Monique has been teaching Pole Fitness Australia Classes for the past three months. She instructs her ladies to work their thing in Pole Pump, and Beginner to Advanced classes at our Gold Coast Ashmore studio every week. Her passion for Pole Fitness Australia is second to none... she'll proudly tell you she even shimmies things up at home on her own pole when she can. Her ability on the pole came with her completion of the full Pole Fitness Australia programme, graduating from the Advanced Two class in March, 2007. And she only started at the beginner level last year.
"I began Pole Fitness classes in May, 2006. I was a beginner, just like you all. I really needed a boost to my confidence and do something for me. I love my family dearly and if you're a parent, you know how important it is to stay fit and have your own me-time. After the Beginner class each week, I found that my confidence in myself was starting to resurface. And I was having a total blast at every lesson. From there, a passion has become my career.
My working life has seen a variety of jobs, and as much as I enjoyed the work and challenges, being a Pole Fitness Australia instructor is, by far, the most rewarding. There is nothing more exciting for a teacher than to see their students do well. To see a student's nerves turn into excitement as they climb the pole for the first time, or when they master a new move or complete their routine for the first time.
Pole Fitness Australia definitely gives you the well-deserved me-time, and is a great way to stay in shape. Oh... and my husband appreciates my new found confidence and talents too..."
Dannah
Teacher
Between looking after her two sons and running a mobile spray tanning business, Dannah was attracted to the idea of doing a course in pole fitness as a means of returning to her pre-baby body shape and retaining her sanity!
She quickly found that both were possible, as taking a few hours each week at the pole studio soon evolved into a pole dancing addiction that has seen her through the Pole Fitness Australia program from beginner's level through to Showtime and now in the exciting role of instructor.
"I certainly wasn't the star pupil in my early classes, although I absolutely loved every step of the way. I put my progress on the pole down to persistence and determination. This is what I find so inspiring about the PFA journey - it really is possible for anyone to succeed in what they set out to achieve if they put their mind to it. I see it every time I set foot in the studio and it's what makes my job that little bit more motivating! Plus we have a hell of a lot of fun along the way..."
Morde Thomas
Teacher
I have been pole dancing for about one and a half years. I have a real passion for pole. I wake up in the morning thinking about pole and go to bed at night thinking the same thing, maybe a bit sorer from working on the pole.
I don't have a long background in dance, gymnastics or fitness. I credit my success on the pole to one thing: determination. From my experience, the difference between the people who are good pole dancers and great pole dancers are those who just never give up.
I love pole as I always have goals and new moves I want to master. As soon as I master one, it just inspires me to aim higher. Teaching is a great chance for me to share my love of pole with everyone else. I also love the performance aspect of pole. I want everyone who sees me to perform to say "I want to learn that."
Melissa Murphy (Mel)
Director/Teacher
As a director before the business was even open, Mel was training with the teachers and learning the moves and educating herself on the new business that she had entered, making it a growing passion and her hunger for more knowledge quickly brought her up to speed with the teachers.
Having a 'Passion for Fitness' and wanting to accommodate to all who passed through the door, "Pole Pump" was born - a fitness class that Mel designed to help ladies gain the strength they require to execute the pole moves.
This class has gone from strength to strength and all who teach it have their own flavour to add, making it a unique class for all who attend.
As an active director in the business you will see Mel teaching classes, attending classes, or just training with the girls any chance she gets, so be sure to say "hi".
