Instructors

Our instructors have one thing in common – we want you to be proud of you. Take a look at their experiences and see how pole dancing and fitness made them proud of themselves.

I was having a meal with a group of friends & we had all just had our second children. We were still carrying too much post baby weight & not feeling particularly attractive. After a few wines I joked that we should start pole dancing & to my surprise everyone was keen - so that's how I started my obsession with pole fitness. I lost 11kg & toned up very quickly & felt so much better about myself that since getting my new figure I joined & performed in a Burlesque group and installed a pole at home! I am also a Pilates fanatic & think that both forms of exercise compliment each other perfectly - flexibility, core strength, cardio & body toning.

I have attended different pole studios & chose PFA for its professional, safety conscious, fun & friendly approach. I am very excited to be a part of the PFA team & even more excited to have a valid reason for buying sexy heels to fill my wardrobe. Fun exercise in heels - what more could a woman ask for?

I started pole about 4 years ago with a couple of friends for some fun & fitness & fell in love with the sport. Having only a tennis & netball background, I had no upper body strength or co-ordination. I found the dancing aspect quite challenging but that's the point about pole dancing! There's always the next challenge & it's never dull or repetitive.

I started Doubles training after a about a year of pole with another pole dance instructor Jenna Scutt & we competed in the Asia-Pacific Pole Dancing Competition in 2010. This was a really amazing experience which taught me about performance, training endurance & choreography. Earlier this year I also competed in Miss Pole Dance Queensland 2012 solo division where I placed third. With the competition experience behind me I'm now focused on continuing with my current role as Head Instructor at PFA.

I began pole fitness in 2006 & was instantly hooked. I've always hated going to the gym & found that pole is the perfect alternative for people who are bored with traditional forms of exercise. It's really rewarding when you have finally achieved something on the pole that you've been working towards. It's also fantastic way to meet new friends and some of my closest friends are people that I found on a pole!

Always having worked in a office environment, I exercise before or after work to clear my head and shift the daily intake of over indulging in food! I have always been an active person and get bored with routine when it comes to exercise so am always keen to try new activities. I've always had a gym membership and participated in various activities including triathlon training. I have a passion for yoga, dance & take the occasional ballet class. I've always loved dancing & my 7-year old son & I often put on music we love & "Dance like no one is watching"! Two years ago I came along to "have a look" at a Beginners class in action, joined the following week, bought my first pair of 6" heels 3 weeks later & after 12 months I knew I could see myself training to become a Pole Fitness Instructor. There is an amazing bond in our dance team, with colleagues & teaching new students.

Pole Fitness is definitely one of the best ways to shift weight and tone. It doesn't matter if you like to exercise solo or be part of a team. You are learning with others but at your own pace & if you are up for a challenge, there is no limit here.

My love for pole began in Dec 2009 when I discovered a few of the mums from my children's school had begun Beginners classes with PFA. I tagged along & immediately saw the benefits pole fitness could give me. Heaps of fun & laughter, cardio fitness, weight bearing exercises (great for prevention of osteiporosis), as well as the mental challenge such as setting myself small goals each week to achieve "that" trick which progressively got to be bigger, more impressive & difficult tricks - and then actually achieving them!

I had done a variety of dance styles, performance & choreography (including cheerleading, university musicals, teaching dance, statewide tours of children's productions etc), yet pole provided an entirely different element to dance - the vertical element. Strength with pole builds up slowly & surely & without the boredom of repetitions done in the gym. You won't even realise you're exercising. With me, I have managed to lose over 2 & 1/2 clothing sizes, all whilst having fun & meeting some awesome new friends. These friends are fantastic to help boost my motivation when I need that extra push.

Pole has become a part of my every day lifestyle, as has Burlesque, which PFA also offers! It is a blast, whilst all the time improving my fitness & self-confidence. At my age (nearly 40) it's like I have discovered a whole NEW me, I love it & I'm proud of it!! Come along to a Beginners course, it could be the birth of a whole new you too!

The first time I ever walked into Pole Fitness Australia I really didn't know what to expect. I had always been curious, but never quite managed to pluck up the courage to walk through the doors! I can now honestly say - it's the best thing I've ever done. I was getting tired of running on the treadmill like a hamster & was really just looking for something fun that was still a great workout. Pole turned out to be that & much more! Not having a dance background (in the slightest!) I was little nervous as to how I would take to it but have found that if you have determination & willingness to give anything a go, then anything is possible. Pole is the most amazing way to become toned, strong and graceful. It is a constant challenge which I love!!! I have met some of the most amazing friends through pole and I don't know what I would do now if I didn't see them every week!

So if you are looking for a way to tone up, get fit & have the most fun you've ever had with an awesome bunch of ladies - what are you waiting for?! Come & play with us! You'll soon find it's not as scary as you may have thought. And who knows....you might just be a little sassier than you gave yourself credit for!

My pole journey began back in 2007 when a friend & I started talking seriously about getting back to doing some form of dancing. Growing up I had always been an active person being part of a dance school doing ballet, tap & jazz. For one reason or another I had to give it up on my final year of high school & and have always missed it.

I loved working but get bored easily which is why I never wanted to join a gym. However, in the back of my mind I had always been curious about pole dancing. One morning I passed a sign advertising Pole Fitness Australia near my home & without hesitation I contacted the studio. My friend & I were invited to a free private session at their studio & the rest is ancient history as we were hooked! I must say it wasn't long before I installed my own pole at home.

Pole fitness has become a part of my every day lifestyle. I love it & all the challenges (and the occassional bruise) that comes along with the sport. It's been a fantastic way to meet new people, & a lot of my closest friends are those who I have met hanging around (or upside down) on the pole. Pole fitness is an ever evolving sport & one that I am happy to be a part of.

So if you are searching for something a little different & a LOT of fun, consider giving pole fitness a try. Work out at your own pace in a supportive environment, see results before you know it & get to meet friendly new faces along the way. Come in to Pole Fitness Australia & give it a spin, we would love to see you at the studio!

Having a history of jazz, tap, ballet, latin, ballroom & competitive irish dancing, I felt like trying something new & thought I may as well give pole dancing a go! I'd always hated the gym but quickly found that PFA provided a well rounded workout that I actually enjoyed. Soon after starting in Apr 2010, I felt myself becoming stronger, fitter & more flexible. I became much more confident in my body, focusing less on what my body looked like & more on what tricks it could achieve on the pole. I encourage every woman of any shape, age & size to give it go. It's highly addictive & the benefits are endless.

When I started pole in mind 2010 I thought I was just going to do a 5 week Beginners course for fun & to check out what "pole fitness" was all about. Never in a million years did I expect to fall in love with the sport & become an instructor! Along the way, I've become a fitter, stronger & more confident person making many new friends along the way. It's the best feeling in the world when you finally achieve something you've been working hard at & it's fun to watch others do the same. I love the supportive, friendly environment that is PFA and I LOVE teaching!
